Accreditation

Our school is under the high patronage of the French Embassy to Croatia and under the Agency for French Education Abroad. Our programme is therefore identical to that offered by any other French School in France, with some additional aspect in particular in terms of language learning to satisfy the particualirity of being an international school abroad.

Our programmes are in conformity with the Croatian requirements, offering Croatian nationals the mandatory Croatian language, Croatian History and Croatian Geography classes.

Our Elementary and Middle Schools have been recognised since 2014 offering children possibility to join Croatian Schooling system at any grade.

Recognised in France

The curriculum offered is certified by the French authorities through the AEFE, the Agency for French Education Abroad. The AEFE is a government institution supervised by the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs and is responsible for managing the network of French Schools abroad, which is the world’s largest educational network, covering 480 school over 130 countries.

The AEFE guarantees the quality and the content of teaching and in particular ensures that all programmes taught comply with the French national curriculum. It also offers support to the teaching and administrative staff and allows the pupils to transfer to any other French school in the network or in France thus guaranteeing their continuity of education should they need it.

Recognised in Croatia

The French International School is also officially recognised by the Croatian Ministry of Education.

Our Elementary and Middle Schools have been recognised since 2014. Our programmes are in conformity with the Croatian requirements, offering Croatian nationals the mandatory Croatian language, Croatian History and Croatian Geography classes.

From 2018 our Preschool has also been fully recognised by the city of Zagreb allowing families to claim specific subsidies to help towards schooling fees under certain conditions. (link)

Recognised for its foreign languages expertise

The French International School of Zagreb offers the excellence of the French educational programme in the exceptional setting of the Eurocampus in Zagreb.

An outstanding aspect of our school is its strong focus on language learning. The FISZ is recognised for the excellence of its foreign languages offer from the quality of the courses content and methodology to the recruitment of specialist native-speaker teachers.

The FISZ primary aim is of course to ensure that all children fully master the French language. French is taught for all core classes and those children who need it are offered specific support through our qualified French as a Foreign Language teachers.

English is mandatory as a first foreign language from age 6, German taught as a second foreign language from age 11, and Croatian is obligatory for all pupils and taught either as a foreign language or as a mother tongue.

One of the exceptional enrichments offered by the school within the Eurocampus is that the students of both FISZ and DISZ share all language classes as well as sports classes which are led in English.
